I use my name merely as a convenient way to represent myself – and consequently the range of my professional interests. These have developed over a lifetime and continue to do so, broadly covering:
a desire to profoundly understand places and their culture
a passionate interest in communication and language
a belief that the past is key to deciphering the present, and knowing how past generations lived can affect our lives
